The city's library history says Howard Hamilton offered 4,000 books and $75,000 in October 1971, the council accepted that gift by the fall of 1972, groundbreaking was in September 1973, and the first building opened in June 1974. The library opened in its current building on December 1, 1999, moving from a 4,000-square-foot space to more than 23,000 square feet. Metropolitan Community College lists the Sarpy Center at that same Giles Road address.
In February 2021 the City Council renamed Civic Center Park to Central Park, because the new ground shares a border with the older park. The older park became Central Park West, and the city's project page says a pedestrian underpass is how the two will connect. The parks page puts the clubhouse at 8305 Park View Boulevard, on the north side. The Link and Nines Plaza are on the south side. The park sits on the east side of 84th Street, between City Centre and the rest of that corridor. Golf at the old municipal course ended in September 2016. The city's Active Mobility Plan says the West Papio Trail runs for approximately 15 miles along the West Papillion Creek and has been expanded through La Vista so Omaha and Papillion connect. The same plan says the Keystone Trail offers nearly 30 miles and follows the Big Papillion Creek from the Missouri River to Lake Cunningham. Those are separate paths from the Thompson Creek greenway. The city's living-here page describes the original subdivision as 335 homes platted on 80 acres. The police department history says the population had doubled to 3,257 by 1965.
